We have lots of exciting programs in store for the month of December.

It’s the perfect time of year to help our neighbours, so we will have a mitten tree, food drive boxes and toy drive boxes here at the Library.

Port Cares Mitten Tree


Bring new mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to help decorate our annual Mitten Tree for Port Cares! Donations will be accepted from November 27—December 21, 2017.

This year, the library will once again be a drop-off point for donations for the Port Colborne Fire Department Toy Drive! A donation bin will be available in the library from mid-November to December, 2017.Port Colborne Fire Department Toy Drive

Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items will be accepted at the Port Colborne Public  Library throughout the month of December. Port Cares Food Drive



ToTot Timet TimeThursdays: Dec. 7 & 21, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Circle time, play-based learning, stories and finger plays. For ages 2 to 5. Parents/caregivers must stay in the library during the class. Cost: $1.00. Pre-register.

Meet Canadian Cartoonist and Illustrator Matthew Forsythe

Thank you to the Canadian Federation of University Women, Welland and District.

The CFUW sponsored and organized a meet and greet with Canadian Cartoonist and Illustrator Matthew Forsythe. His presentation was great! Matthew Forsythe, is an award-winning cartoonist and illustrator. Fans joined him on an exciting journey peeked behind the scenes of the Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time series. He explained the steps illustrators take to publish a book, how illustrators and authors work together, and explained how to have a career in illustration!

TD Summer Reading Club, Ride-to-Read and Fun Summer Activities

Registration for the 2017 TD Summer Reading Club and activities start Monday, June 26, 2017.  For program details please see our Port Colborne Library Summer Flyer 2017.

Please note that on page 5 of our flyer, you can find information about our annual Ride-to-Read program. We are proud to once again partner with Port Colborne Transit and the City of Port Colborne in this great program which helps get children to the public library on Port Colborne transit buses. Registration for this program also starts June 26th.  Information and stickers are available at your library.

We are also happy to announce our brand new Teen Reading Club for ages 13 and up. Grab an entry form starting June 26th and tic-tac-toe your way to prizes! Details at the library.

And while you’re here on June 26th, check out our awesome Harry Potter activities and help us celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the first Harry Potter book. Activities are scheduled from 12:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. (Muggles need not apply).

Canadian Federation of University Women’s Donation to Your Library

Canadian Federation of University Women Logo The Port Colborne Public Library would like to thank the Canadian Federation of University Women, Welland and District, for donating $1000 to the Port Colborne, Welland and Pelham Public Libraries toward providing a Canadian children’s author reading at each library during March Break.

On Monday, March 14, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., the Port Colborne Public Library welcomed award-winning Canadian children’s illustrator and author Barbara Reid for a reading and presentation. Barbara Reid’s unique plasticine illustrations are recognized around the world, and her picture books have won dozens of awards. Barbara lives in Toronto, but is at home in classrooms and libraries across Canada.
