“Before They Were Fab: The Beatles Prior to Beatlemania”

Before the number one records and the deafening screams, before Ed Sullivan and “She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah”, before the shaggy “mop top” haircuts and collarless suits, there were six future Beatles. This 90- minute multimedia presentation will trace the early history of The Beatles from John Lennon’s founding of The Quarrymen in 1957, through their five seminal Hamburg residencies, and right up to the precipice of worldwide fame and fortune.

Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course

Saturday, June 17 – 9:00 am—4:30 pm

For children ages 11 to 15. (Proof of birth date required.)

Cost is $60.00. Space is limited. Pre-register at the Library.

Learn basic first aid and care-giving skills for youth; how to provide care to younger children in a variety of age groups; how to prevent and respond to emergencies; and how to promote yourself as a babysitter to prospective parents.

Canadian Federation of University Women’s Donation to Your Library

Canadian Federation of University Women Logo The Port Colborne Public Library would like to thank the Canadian Federation of University Women, Welland and District, for donating $1000 to the Port Colborne, Welland and Pelham Public Libraries toward providing a Canadian children’s author reading at each library during March Break.

On Monday, March 14, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., the Port Colborne Public Library welcomed award-winning Canadian children’s illustrator and author Barbara Reid for a reading and presentation. Barbara Reid’s unique plasticine illustrations are recognized around the world, and her picture books have won dozens of awards. Barbara lives in Toronto, but is at home in classrooms and libraries across Canada.
